A Complex Litigation Attorney at Paranjpe Mahadass Ruemke LLP, James P. Lamey is an experienced trial lawyer who has represented injured people across Texas and the United States in both state and federal courts.  Mr. Lamey is licensed by the State Bar of Texas, is admitted to practice in federal courts in the Southern, Eastern, and Western Districts of Texas, and has appeared in many other jurisdictions pro hac vice.   Prior to joining the law firm, Mr. Lamey was a Senior Litigation Attorney at a large plaintiffs personal injury firm and has primarily handled cases referred to him from other attorneys, especially when those attorneys realized trial was inevitable.  Mr. Lamey – who will probably encourage you to call him “just James” if you ever say “Mr. Lamey” outside of a courtroom – is known for his courtesy and humor, but respected for his strategy and pragmatism.

Mr. Lamey has pursued and obtained recovery for his clients’ harms and losses in countless types of cases.  This includes commercial and business litigation, policyholder disputes, commercial vehicle, medical malpractice, workplace and on-the-job injury, Jones Act and maritime, Federal Employers Liability Act (FELA), Deceptive Trade Practices Act (DTPA), premises liability and negligent security, motor vehicle, motorcycle, products liability, mass tort and multi-district litigation, and more.  Mr. Lamey has handled injuries ranging from the small and bearable to the catastrophic and deadly, and everything in between.  Mr. Lamey has been recognized numerous times for his work in plaintiff’s personal injury, including by Super Lawyers Rising Stars, the National Trial Lawyers, the American Academy of Attorneys, and Houstonia Magazine’s Top Lawyers.  Mr. Lamey has tried cases to juries, judges, and arbitrators since when he was only two months into legal practice, and has obtained multiple recoveries over seven figures for his clients.

Before he was ever a lawyer, Mr. Lamey earned the rank of Eagle Scout at the age of thirteen, graduated from Seven Lakes High School in Katy, Texas, attended the University of Texas at Austin as a National Merit Scholar where he studied English and Mathematics, and then earned his law degree from the University of Houston Law Center.  At UHLC, Mr. Lamey was the sole recipient in his graduating class of the K. Byron McCoy Excellence in Advocacy Scholarship, a three-year member of the mock trial team, and the champion of the Hippard Novice Mock Trial Competition, Hippard Open Mock Trial Competition, and Blakely-Butler Moot Court Competition. When he isn’t busy serving his clients, Mr. Lamey enjoys guiding, teaching, and mentoring young attorneys and law students, including coaching or judging law students in advocacy competitions.  Mr. Lamey has previously guest-lectured for legal writing classes, given presentations on personal injury, and earned certificates from the A.A. White Dispute Resolution Center in arbitration and mediation, and continues to be a member of the Texas Trial Lawyers Association.

Mr. Lamey cherishes the time he gets to spend with his wife, Amanda; their children, John and Olivia; and their pets, Maple, Waffle, and Luna.  Otherwise, and time permitting, you might find James grilling in his backyard, riding his Indian motorcycle around Houston, playing bass guitar, or golfing very badly.
