HOUSTON – A $1.7 million verdict secured by Paranjpe Mahadass Ruemke, LLP (PMR Law) trial lawyers has been recognized among the largest decisions in Texas in 2021, according to Texas Lawyer magazine and VerdictSearch.
The March 2021 verdict was the second largest decision for a wrongful death case of the year, according to the VerdictSearch analysis. District Court Judge Kristin Bays awarded Telina Wheaton $1.7 million for the 2019 death of her son, Bobby Joe Johnson. The award included $136,323 for Mr. Johnson’s estate, plus prejudgment interest and all court costs.
Mr. Johnson was walking to the apartment he shared with his mother around 8:30 p.m. when a Golden Chopsticks restaurant delivery driver hit him as he crossed F.M. 1488 in Conroe. Mr. Johnson was hospitalized with blunt force injuries and died two days later. Read more about the case.
